They’re dead, all dead. I left them for 2 weeks in a cold house with no food source and now they’re gone, gone for good. It was an intentional mass gnat-ocide but I find that I’m strangely lonely for the pitter patter of their little wings, for the way they would lovingly nuzzle up against my hair or my teeth as I walked through the kitchen. Here’s to the memories. They’re all I have left.

Administrative Stuff
I’m glad they are gone! We battled a fruit fly epidemic for a couple of weeks last year, and I thought that I would go insane. We never did find out where they were coming from…but I live in fear of their return!
Excellent! Congratulations. We had a major ant infestation for an excessively long time and finally got rid of them a few months ago, so I know how you must be feeling right now. Believe me, though, after the reappearance of the first gnat or two, you’d be screaming for a new cure.
I’ll mail you some. They live in the sewer system here and surface all year round.
My husband found an old bag of flour way at the back of the cupboard and when he moved it the bottom gave out and we were inundated with those tiny flour bugs that are attracted to everything and every surface. Each one you kill brings another 7 in its place.
I was so happy when we finally got rid of them all.
I’m a big, mega fan of discinfectant and bleach now lol
Yay! One small step for mankind….!
Fruit flies, bleh. We had an epidemic earlier this winter and it turned out that a banana had fallen between the counter and the wall. That was GREAT.
H9ooray! Long live the dead fruit flies.
I saw a wasp in our house yesterday. A WASP! And it’s been stinkin’ cold here until two days ago. And it’s supposed to be stinkin’ cold again tomorrow.
I had no problem saying good bye to it with a can of Hot Shot. No problem at all.
Beware…..I had the same annoying problem with the fruit flies…(I had accidentally left some chicken nuggets in a cooler in the garage) and they were all over my kitchen and in the cabinet were we keep the vinegar….NASTY. I finally realized about the sick cooler in the garage and how they were flying in from there and threw it out. But even months later they would reappear for no good reason. I did read online somewhere that they lay eggs on surfaces and they can be dormant for months and then rehatch or something. SO WATCH OUT for those pests. Good luck.- stacy
May they rest in peace.
Snort!
~ding dong the gnats are dead~
Wow, Shalee (comment 8): we had a wasp in our house yesterday too! weird…
oh, and Amanda (comment 4)…that is so gross.
Tell me how!!! Seriously it is winter and we still have Asian beetles and flies in the house….I hate them.
Okay, I am begging my pals for a bit of help today and this week. I entered a poetry contest, part of my writing goal, and am asking you pop here: http://wannabeawritersomeday.blogspot.com/2008/01/i-am-entering-poetry-contest-yikes-and.html and if you like what you read, think about following the link at the end of the post and voting for me.
Thanks a bunch.
Your pal, Penelope
I’m so sorry. Let me know if you need a shoulder to cry on.
Gnats make me want to kill. I’m glad they are all dead, Kathryn.
