Do I have to Wear the Arm Band Every Time I Blog…

***update – the writer M**** is no longer blogging publicly and has asked that I help protect her privacy so I’ve removed her name from this post and comments and removed any links I had up to her previous site, which no longer exists but which had a URL bearing her first and last name.***

moroniOr can I just tattoo the Angel Moroni on my forehead instead? It would be a lot less itchy and would cover up more than a few…shall we call them “imperfections” on my face.

When I woke up this morning, my first thought was “What a great day to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!” I rolled to my knees and said a very humble, sincere, spiritual and heartfelt Mormony prayer.

I then got breakfast for my two little kids – yep! – they’re big fat Mormons too, both of them. So’s my husband, my mom, my dad, my 3 sisters and my brother. What a big family! Woo-hoo! We Mormons just LOVE families. (If you want to know more about what Mormons think about families, click here)

I just thought I’d make it a little easier for the bounty-hunters of discernment to find me and put me in a column somewhere.

This is an example of how certain Christians would prefer that my blog be written. Having a link on my sidebar to Mormon.org is not enough. Periodically mentioning things about my religious life is not enough. Giving back a Christian award for Humor when I found out that I was considered an evil interloper in the world of internet Christianity was not enough.

Now the person who exposed my blog as the “pea” underneath the legitimate Christian winners is at it again. She has called on her friends to go to Heather’s awards site, check out each of the nominees and put them into columns of Christian, Mormon or “Other.”

I am not making this next part up.

She is offering a reward for these bounty-hunters of faith. She says she thinks it’s fine for people to read each other, we should just all know what everybody is…

Hello. I am a human being.

What does knowing I’m Mormon have to do with caring that my son’s hand just got scorched or laughing at the way I chastise Ducky? Um…um…still thinking…

Casting Mormons and several other groups who believe in Christ out of their little club is not enough for her. She now has to seek out a group of awards that are dedicated to NOT labeling and classifying people and ruin their fun too.

Heather started the awards to recognize and reward us for the things that bring us together despite our vast differences. She wants the awards to be about “sharing the love.”

The writer who is concerned about the awards just makes me feel sad and tired all the way down to my bones! She writes that Mormons and others who are “not Christian” are sneaking their way into Christian circles by doing things like quoting C. S. Lewis on our blogs. Heck, I think Muslims should use C. S. Lewis quotes on their blog. He is just a fantastic and faith-filled man. Period. His words should be in as many places as possible. I also love the writing of Ellie Weisel and Gandhi. Am I trying to trick you into thinking I’m Jewish or Hindi? Um….no!

She says that we’re trying to convert you by weedling our way into your friendship groups. She wants bloggers to be much more clear about their “worldview” so that when people are reading you, they can take your writing with the right grain of salt.

So here are a few things you should know about my world view before you decide whether or not to read this blog any more:

-I am LDS, a card-carrying Mormon (had you gotten that yet or was I still being too sneaky?).
-I am not affiliated with any political party.
-I love being a mom.
-I don’t mind the Seattle rain that much.
-I give birth in hospitals.
-I like strawberry ice cream.
flames-I eat meat and vegetables, classifying me as an omnivore.
-I was raised white but Laylee has informed me that mommies can be blue or brown too.
-I cheer for the Calgary Flames hockey team. Any questions?

Run away. Run away now Edmonton Oilers fans!

canMaybe I’ll carry this philosophy of making sure people are aware of everyone’s worldview into the way I speak with my friends in real life.

“Hey, my friend Shanna wrote me the sweetest note. I should warn you she’s a Republican.”

“Don’t you think Karen’s doing a great job on the PTA, besides the fact that she was a Girl Scout in junior high?”

“Come on Scott, we should be a little wary of your stance on the environment. You eat Chunky Beef Burger Soup with a FORK!”

Come on! Yes. I am LDS. I believe in LDS doctrine. If I did not, I wouldn’t put so much effort into my religion. It is sacred to me. A lot of people don’t believe in modern day prophets, Christ as their divine Savior, or read the Book of Mormon. Guess what!? They can belong to other religions or none at all.

THIS IS NOT A RELIGIOUS BLOG. It is a blog about my life, my kids and whatever the heck I want to write about. Sometimes I want to write about my mullet. Sometimes I want to write about my daughter’s prayers. Some people want to write a lot about their religious beliefs on their blogs and that’s fine. I read several “religious” blogs from various faiths and I enjoy them.

This blog is written by a person who likes you for your wonderful qualities and for the stories of your kids’ vomit and vandalism, that make me feel better about my own exciting mommy life.

It is written by a person who does not want to stamp labels on people.

It is written by a person who is sick and tired of this whole subject.

It is also written by a person who is purposely not linking to my past posts on the subject or to the blog of the woman who questions your discernment for even reading this far.

One last thing – I know that LDS people differ in belief from other Christian faiths just like other Christian faiths disagree with each other (This links to a great post by DYD about defining Christianity. Man, I like him!). I know some people don’t categorize us as Christians. I also know what I believe and anyone who comments on this blog to tell me “what I really believe but just don’t know it, even though I’ve been a member for 27 years” will be deleted.

I’m sick of the drama.

I am not totally sure that I understand what the situation is, but it could explain why I got 800 looks at my profile…yesterday alone!! (I am a nominee…).

What is this group? What is happening? Do the internet troll’s strike again?

    Dying to get detials…
    R

  2. Bek says:

Oh, and as for categorizing blogs….heaven forbid we learn something new. That is just what Jesus taught, right? To never read/socialize/learn outside of your own group.

Or is that just what he taught the people that aren’t put in the Mormon or Other column?

  3. Elena says:

I’m so glad you blogged on this!

M**** clearly has some problems. (The need to classify the blogs on her blog roll by personality type seems just a bit obsessive to me.) and apparently she has some control issues too as this is a blog awards that she can’t do anything about except to criticize.

You handled it beautifully – you always do!

  4. Jeana says:

Sigh. I am so sorry, Kathryn.

Wait, I forgot. Chrisitan, non-Mormon, Republican, white, hospitol with doctor, never was a girl scout, and chocolate ice cream. And I don’t eat Chunky Soup. (gasp!)

And I’m waiting to hear your toothpaste brand before I decide if I’ll be back.

Seriously, I am sorry. Although my religious beliefs are more similar to hers, I have to point out that to a non-believer you would be the better witness here. (Hope I”m making sense here.) You have been gracious and kind through all of this, and I admire that. I won’t go into all the reasons this is ridiculous (good grief, it’s not a Presidential election, and we’re not electing church elders here; it’s a BLOG award!)

Again, Kathryn, so sorry. And please keep writing, I enjoy it so much!

  5. Jenna says:

Oh, see, now I’ve been warned….when you were commenting on my blog and telling me I was funny, what you were REALLY doing was trying to convert me to Mormonism! Thank goodness I’ve been warned! I’m locking up my [imaginary] children and my [real] supply of Chunky Soup. Is nothing safe??
Um, yeah. Labels are silly. Anti-label all up in here, I am. But just so people are warned, I’m one of THOSE girls….yep, sometimes I wash my hair in the sink instead of showering before work.
    Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Hang in there, DYM. Keep showing the love and defying the boxes. It’s all we can ever do.

  6. KatieButler says:

Aye-yi-yi. For what it’s worth, as a “card-carrying Catholic” (and in turn, not considered “Christian” by some, either!) I’ve never felt that you are trying to convert anyone–ooh, I see! It’s all subliminal. @@
Sorry that you’re having to deal with this, and please continue to entertain with tales of wife- & motherhood, the daring Magoo & lovely Laylee!

  7. jenny says:

so what’re you saying? you’re a mormon? I am religionless and still find you funny and think you’re a great writer…is that allowable under all these new rules? 😉

I think the more important issue here is…the Calgary Flames?

  8. Nancy says:

Hello. Agnostic, Washington Capitals fan. Love the Flames too because Jarome Iginla’s amazing and Kipper is on my Fantasy Hockey Team. Also an award nominee.

Seriously, thank you for this post. You expressed what I believe about blogging: we are here to “teach” each other about life, regardless of race or religion or hockey team affiliation.

  9. blackbird says:

    Unitarian Universalist,
(don’t know how to link in comments)
so, it’s ALL good with me.
Everything except petty craziness that drags people down and exposes their petty problems.

Don’t get caught up in this.
    It’s crap.
    We know you.
    We love you.
    Walk away.

  10. jessica says:

Oh, Kathryn. Sigh. Maybe this is a good thing. It shows that Heather’s reaching a wider audience with these awards than she thought she would. Or maybe that’s just a tiny silver lining on a big ol’ mountainous cloud of bad things past and present. But hold onto that silver lining, DYM. It’s what keeps us sane and centered.

And for those of you making lists, I’ll make it easy for you. I’m also LDS, also a nominee and I have never watched a hockey game in my life (although I did get caught in a traffic jam as a game let out in the 2002 Olympics in UT).

Phew. Now that my stand-up introduction at this LDS (not-so)Anonymous meeting is offically over, I can get back to my life. Hope everyone else can get back to theirs too.

  11. Liz says:

Before you read this comment – I’m a one God Apostolic tongue-talkin’ Holy-roller born again believer in the power of Jesus’ name ~Liz~

okay so what the heck is the lady’s problem? Is she upset that there’s an awards going on that she was not nominated for? What is Christ-like about stealing someone else’s thunder?

Why can’t she mind her own business?

And why can’t she control herself long enough to not read your blog if she is so uptight about it?

okay. My rant is over, I will go back to being a city set on a hill…

  12. Grammy says:

Reading this post made me think of something I wrote after a lovely spring walk last year. I hope it’s not out of line for me to post something this long here. If it is, K you can delete me. No hard feelings.

I am loving the bayou so close at hand. I like to go there as often as I can. It refreshes my spirits (and I am also trying to walk or bike my butt off). Tuesday there was family of ducks acting out “the Ugly Duckling”. The mother was small and sleek and black with 21 tiny ducklings in her orbit. 19 were the spitting image of their mom, but 2 must have been throwbacks to some ungainly ancient relative. They were very large and fuzzy and grey. They didn’t fit in at all, but the marvelous fact was that none of them seemed aware of it. They mixed in with their trimmer, more graceful siblings perfectly. No one seemed to make fun of them. Those two didn’t stick together but mingled companionably with everyone in the group. I couldn’t help wishing that we were more like that as people – accepting everyone for who they were, no sense of self-consciousness for being different, as if it just didn’t matter (as, of course it doesn’t). I’m sure there’s a lesson in there somewhere. At any rate, it was lovely to watch.

  13. Whoa and wait a minute- I guess I better warn people right now not to vote for me… I am a Catholic converting to Judaism- the worse, I suppose… and, oh yeah, I am a massge therapist, too. Ewww… she touches people… that’s just not right…
I can’t believe that lady! I was there from the beginnng, Kathryn, which is how I found your blog. And I was never so happy in my whole life because I found you, then your sister, now mom and dad- the whole family!
This is not what love is about- categorizing and judging and labeling. Think of all the wonderful people you miss having a chance of knowing!

  14. Rachelle says:

Oh I am so sorry! I cannot believe somebody is trying to suck the fun of the awards. I am LDS too and my blog is not to spout religion, or convert anybody with my subtle hidden messages. It’s to share my many ramblings.

I read so many blogs. I read many religions, many different life styles, and you know what? Even if I don’t agree with their beliefs or lifestyle, I can learn something from them and learn some tolerance. And it’s my choice to read them! Nobody forces me to read a certain blog. I alone choose what to read. So if I don’t like their views, should I post all over and harass them? Nope. There is a simple solution. Just stop reading! Not so hard is it?

Man, the nerve of some people. I spend my days trying to teach my students tolerance for each other and differences. And it’s people like that who spread hate and intolerance. It makes me sad for the state of this world. It really does.

  15. HLH says:

wow, I was totally in the dark that this was even going on. So sorry for your frustration.

I don’t understand the need to catagorize religion in awards, unless she feels she is doing a service in giving out multiple awards (more people are winning). Besides, I thought that BOB was the only real award of worth anyway (or wait, is she from them?)

For the record- I have only been to one hockey game in my life and I was dissopointed because I did not see blood bounce on the ice.

  16. i stumbled upon your blog and was quickly enticed. i like your writing style and i find you really amusing.

anyway, what’s up with all the labels? the woman is a lid screwed on too tight. i am a born again believer and still find you really cool. Christ was never about groups or being exclusive.

by the way, i think you have a cute family. i’m also a young mom. i have a two-month-old boy and a loving hubby. so i’m pretty sure i’ll frequent your blog and learn a lot from you.

  17. Chris says:

I am standing up and clapping for you.
And spraying the room with some Drama-Be-Gone.

  18. Hi, Kathryn. Uh, let’s see; where do I begin? Here we go- Christian, wife, mother, white (as white as can be- don’t even tan), not-so-much-a-hockey-lover (can we still be friends?), daughter, sister, neighbor, and friend. I believe there are lots of Christians who don’t agree with LDS doctrine and STILL read your blog- gasp!! And guess what? I don’t read your blog for “how to’s” of the Christian life. I read it because I get that here’s a wife and mom who struggles day in and day out with the same (often mundane)issues that we all do. What to do when your daughter will ONLY wear princess dress up? What to do when your baby won’t go to sleep except when comforted by mom’s breasts, er, appendages? What to do when baby grabs extremely hot object and burns himself? Oh, and not to mention, how do I explain to my husband when I actually laugh out loud while silently reading your blog?

Thank you for your graciousness, Kathryn.

  19. Oh screw em girl. You be who you are or aren’t and I guarantee most of us will continue to read. Man people piss me off.

  20. Here’s the most amusing part of the whole thing:

    [link deleted]

On her own blog, Mrs. S******* discusses the valiant efforts of one man who fought against discrimination to allow her entry into her beloved UC Berkley jounrlism program.

It’s truly sad that she has not learned from his example.

I’m the epitomy of small time blogger, but I will blog about this.

In the mean time, I would encourage all to inform the editors of the San Francisco Chronicle of Mrs. S******’s actions here: http://sfgate.com/feedback/

Mrs. S****** would like to be a journalist – that’s fine, but her previous employers need to know of her actions and that bringing her back into the fold at the Chronicle in the future could well cause a backlash.

S****** does not want to leave this alone. That’s fine, I won’t either. I’ll have a blog up on this in 48 hours.

  21. novaks8 says:

    Oh good grief.

I am a Christian. Pat Robertson is too (supposedly)

He and I couldnt be farther apart in beliefs.

I am Episcopalian. We believe in infant baptism and communion with wine.
Should I put that on my blog in the sidebar so as not to offend anyone?

This is about a BLOGGING AWARD.
Not a Nobel prize for goodness sake.

You keep on blogging and ignore the idiots kay?

  22. Kathyrn
You keep doing what you are doing. You are funny and kind hearted. This woman really needs to do some introspecting before casting anymore stones.

I wonder what she would say about me. I am a southern Baptist, republican, homeschooling SOCIALWORKER!

  23. novaks8 says:

I just read through her posts….she is loopy.

    I would totally disregard her.

She is trying to stir the pot.

Keep on doing what you are doing.

(wondering if I need to go make an “I am overweight” button for my blog now just so I don’t mislead anyone)

    lol

  24. Queen Beth says:

People like her make me ashamed to carry the name of “Christian”. It’s people like her that keep people away from Christ, rather than coming to Him. The one thing she failed mention in her witch hunt is that Heather isn’t trying to make her awards about religion, she doing it to show appreciation to the women out there who blog and make the internet a better place to be. M**** takes Puritanism to a whole new level and I can’t believe in this day and age, she’s witch hunting. One of the MAJOR messages Christ tried to make clear over and over was love for your fellow man. Judgement belongs to God, not man. I think M**** is immature and talks out of both sides of her mouth. What’s that series of verses in James about being double sided? You can’t be a follower of Jesus and continue to spew hate. You cannot be a part of the light if you are surrounded with darkness.

I love you Kathryn and if I weren’t so happy with my own religion, you and Karli would have a new convert. Your love and generosity speaks volumes above her wickedness!

  25. Oh, Kathryn. I am so sorry you’re going through this. I went over to her site for the first time in a long time and had to keep myself from writing a really forceful comment. I am not a fan of blog awards. I admit that. But I am angry for you. Angry for our religion. As I go to my Mormon book group today and read Jesus the Christ (although we’re not Christian, right?) I’ll try to sort this all out and quit being angry.

  26. Heather says:

Thanks so much for saying what I can’t really say because I’m too much in the middle of it. And thanks for saying it with hilarity so I can laugh through it all. I love you, so much.

  27. Stephanie says:

    LAME!!!!! Lame-dy LAME!!!!

    What is her problem?

    Mormon, and proud of it!

  28. Haven’t checked out that link yet–but I will–I’m curious to see if the Catholics are going to be lumped into “Other.” To people like that, we are no more Christian than you.

Shake the dust off your sandals, and move on.

And think about all the free publicity you’re getting! This is how I found your blog in the first place. So you have the opportunity to bless many others with your stories, pictures and humor. With roadblocks like these in your path, it probably means you’re doing something right.

  29. Goslyn says:

Oh Kathryn, I’m sorry that someone is yet again persecuting you for absolutely no reason.

(Oh wait. Catholic convert, conservative democrat (sort of), hospital with doctor and medication, made it through Brownies, rum raisin ice cream. And I don’t watch hockey. Oops.)

You are a funny, thoughtful, inspirational blogger. Why can’t people just enjoy and leave it at that? If they don’t enjoy it, why don’t they just STOP VISITING YOUR WEBSITE?

I’m no theologian, but I find it hard to believe that there is any ‘biblical’ or ‘Christian’ reason for tearing others down.

Makes me sad in my heart to hear about it happening to you.

Stay strong, and please keep blogging just as you have been. You rock.

  30. I need to post a reply to my comment. Sorry about that. I’m not angry anymore. I’m conflicted about the conflict and it makes me sad. I got defensive about the things I hold most dear, and it came out as angry. I gave Jake a bath and was thinking about this all and just kept wondering what Jesus is thinking as he looks down on this. I think it makes Him sad. I think your actions, however, would make Him proud. Oh, wait, pride. That’s a sin, right? Ooh, wait, I’m getting snarky, again.

  31. Kelly says:

Cannot believe this is happening again. What bugs most, though…. is not that she is sooo obviously disturbed by Mormons. It is that she is so narrow-minded. She is wanting to make every blogger state their religious affiliation even though their blog may have NOTHING to do with that.
I have to say… she hit a nerve with me.
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, (born and raised as you already know, Kathryn) I go to church every Sunday, and I even volunteer there… but I do not blog about it. Not because I am ashamed or I waver in my faith, but because it just has zero to do with what I am doing over there on my page. My blog is quite diverse in subject, but the predominant themes are complaints and blog design. I don’t blog about my religion because I have absolutely no complaints about it and it has nothing to do with blog design.
Seems to me she is on a mission to “out” the Mormons.
    Lame.

  32. Addie says:

The mormon thing was one thing, but then you admitted to the Strawberry Ice Cream. That is just plain offensive!

The complete beauty of blogs is that we get to ‘know’ people outside of our regular circles. Yes there are some big things that are differences between all of us, BUT there are some equally big things that unite us. Why do some people still want to build up walls? Nothing is ever accomplished by building up the I’m right your wrong wall! I grew up with those kind of walls all around me and I was shocked when I grew up to find that there were some really cool people that lived on the other side of those walls and I wanted to get to know them.

I Love You and Heather’s Blog and I will continue to read despite the whole Strawberry Ice Cream thing.

This is why I enjoy flying under the radar in blogland. I may not have large stats, but I also don’t have to deal with the drama. So sorry, you guys are dealing with it. 🙂

  33. Caryn says:

I honestly don’t see what her problem is, and how she can even begin to consider her behavior remotely Christ-like. After all, isn’t that the person after whom all Christians are supposed to model themselves? And as long as you’re not shoving it in anybody’s face, why is your (or anyone else’s) religion anybody’s business?????

  34. Papa says:

    What Blackbird said!

  35. MommyMaki says:

Wow, I’m so baffled that there are people like this who exist. We aren’t in junior high anymore. Forget the armband, if it was me, I’d be saluting her, with my “One Finger Salute” 😉 BTW, her bio tells it all “…deeply flawed human being..” har har.

  36. You’re a Mormon?!?!? Hmmm. I never would have guessed. 😉

  37. Kathryn, every time I try to post a comment I have to start over because there’s so much I want to say. Just suffice it to say that here’s my proudest label today: “Kathryn’s friend”.

  38. Anonymous says:

This blog is read by a person who likes you for your wonderful qualities and for the stories of your kids’ vomit and vandalism, that make me feel better about my own exciting mommy life-to-come.

I don’t suppose this woman’s last name is McCarthy? I read the blog that started the “Mormon pea in the Christian Princess’s bed” schtick and I was literally shaking with anger. So much hate and ignorance… it makes me sad.

I’m tempted to go say some choice words on her blog but… it wouldn’t help. It’s not very Christ-like anyway and anger is one of the things I’ve been working on with Him anyway. He’s ever so much more patient than I am! He’d have to be, to love all of us humans.

Anyway, I’ll just put her in the same mental box I put the weirdo who stood outside the Hill Cumorah Pageant wearing a red devil suit and that strange, nasty girl I met in an online game.

“I hope she changes. I really do. I hope that someday, when she is confronted with the glorious reality of all that she could be as a daughter of God, it will be a joyful promise of things to come and not a reproach of all that she could have been, had she not chosen to fill her life and those of others with hate.”

(quote taken from my own journal written about my experience with the strange, nasty girl from the online game.)

  39. Peter says:

Damn! Oops! Politics and Religion that is what is all about. I love your blog, your insight and care are what draw this White, Roman Catholic, Red Sox loving father of three to your blog. Try not to pay her any mind to that poor woman and keep on entertaining me.
    Peace

    ahem: Christian-in-my-own-way-likely-to-get-me-discerned-outta-here-faster-than-you ;-), libertarian-ditto, etc, etc.

People can be very judgemental, BTDT, and one of God’s great blessings is the grace of forgiveness of self and others that comes with even a little wisdom. (I was going to say “age”, but not everyone “gets it”.)

I am not claiming great wisdom for myself, but I believe it is worth pursuing. More important than passing judegment on others in the name of “discernment”, and setting standards for other people’s “Christianity”.

I would trust your insights as a wife and mother, but I can’t say the same of a Berkely journalism student. (a little discerment of my own there . . .)

  42. Nutella says:

All I can say is “Pass the Drama-Be-Gone spray!” I am so sorry you are dealing with this crap-ola, DYM and Heather. I think you are both awesome.
Oh yeah – Mormon, Independent, Like Sunny days, Girl Scout once, vanilla soy ice cream, and Vegetarian so no chunky soup.

Human, female, student, LDS, don’t have kids so don’t know about the hospital w/ doc w/medication stuff but my sis is a doctor (anesthesiologist (sp?)) so I have a total source for drug info when I get to that point, chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, maybe went to a hockey game in HS once but the better story is how I got stood up for an actual ticket to an olympic hockey game, not sure where I am on the political party lines thing but I lean republican, raised in UPSTATE NY and still consider myself a “New Yorker” despite what that lady in Cairo said about only people from the city being “true” NYers, what else?

OH, and I LOVE your blog and think you are great! Keep it up!

  44. Mom on the Gulf Coast says:

I went to her site. I read her reasonings, I read some of the comments, I looked around a bit, and now I feel soiled.

I’m not trying to sound snarky, but when someone keeps trumpeting about “the truth” and a background in journalism calling her to “seek out a person’s bias” before lending credence to their words… in relation to a blog,a personal thoughts site, my eyes can’t roll back far enough.

I am sorry this has happened once again, I am sorry your sister has instigated an all out subversive mormon conversion program in the guise of celebrating womanity (made that word up, but I like it), I am sorry you like strawberry ice cream – my respect for you has plummetted, mostly I am sorry that your musings on your daily activities have been revealed to have an ulterior motive.

That woman is living in a glass house, her walls will come down. Unfortunatly, it usually doesn’t happen to them in this lifetime, her cloak of self-righteous invulnerability with the optional quasi-intelectual bullet-proof bracelets will proove to be too strong, no words of reason or derision will ever pierce her shield…

Wow! that was a lot o’ hooey I just wrote, but I had to get it out.

Oh, Agnostic, sans ice cream. Run, run from me while you still can…

  45. Lei says:

Only been here a few times, Heather. You are right, you are a human being. Okay, a Mormon one if it really matters 😉 Yes, I am LDS too. Is that why I visit your blog? No, it is because you are an interesting human being (and a nice one), at basically the same point in life that I am and doing the same things, willing to share your honest self with the blogging world. Now, mean human beings – don’t let them get under your skin. This woman is sorely misinformed and it is sad, but she has no shame about it. So, breathe and move on and keep on.

  46. krista says:

Kathryn- Person to person, I want to say to you:

I think you are smart, hilarious, and talented and I love reading about your life.

I am glad you are getting so much support from your comments here.

Maybe once I absorb all of this I can write something more profound, but I really just wanted you to know I am takin this all in, and that I think you are awesome.

Think back a minute…did all this happen before or after you took the hat off your free-flying head in the banner? Hmmmm. Coincidence? I think not. I think what we are dealing with here is a jealous woman who hates people with hats. Or maybe she hates people without hats. Or maybe she just hates people.

Seriously, though, Kathryn, I’m truly sorry that you’re having to put up with such a petty person. As with everything you have handled it with dignity and humor. I applaud you and I will keep reading you. I look forward to seeing the flying head and grounded toes every day.

Here is what I posted on another blog…

I went over and read ‘her’ blog. I blog for myself and myself alone. I read others because I enjoy it and it gives me the chance to see how life is outside mine. Sometimes I comment and sometimes I don’t. Isn’t one of the quotes from the bible “Don’t judge lest ye be judged”? I think it’s something like that. Anyway, I don’t care if someone is red, black, white, yellow, green or purple. I don’t care if you are Catholic, Lutherian, Mormon, atheist, Muslim or non-denominational. If you cut us do we not bleed the same? I think we need to treat people as we want to be treated. Life is way to hard to pay any attention to people like ‘her’ who uses her sense of right and wrong and tries to push it on the world. I read some of the comments and some were for her and some against. I just think it sad that a person feels that they have to try to be superior and that they have to pigeon hole people. I know that I am here by the grace of God and in the end he is the only one I must answer too.

Holy guacamole — what’s the point of commenting when there are *49* before me? Just two things: (a) if you want to be inclusive and spread the word to heathens such as myself (translation: if you want to be a good Christian!)then write a blog like this! You are such a great role model for balance and perspective and true spirituality. (b) How dare you support the Flames when you live so much closer to the Canucks!!!! (Pretend Todd Bertuzzi is on the Calgary team — will that do it? 🙂
