My indoctrination of Magoo is nearly complete. At Grandma’s house he learned to do head spins.

The other day in the car I was listening to an old Bread CD when Magoo got super excited and yelled, “HEY! MOM! Go dance!”
HEY! I went. I danced.
When a Destiny’s Child song came on the butt-shaking radio station, he got DOWN in his car seat (”˜Which song?’ you ask me. Does it really matter?). Mariah Carey was next and he would not so much as twitch to Emotions. Perhaps he is opposed to long runs that end in high notes only wee doggies can hear. Perhaps he was not a fan of Glitter. Whatever the reason, he refused even a direct command to shake it for mommy.
Me: Dance buddy.
Magoo: NO!
Me: Do you only dance to Destiny’s Child now?
Magoo: Yep.
Which saddens me greatly because as much as I like my kids listening to songs that teach them to “leave their men at home because the club is full of ballers with their pockets full grown”, and “all the mamas who profit dollas, throw your hands up at me,” I don’t currently own any of their compact discs.
And oh how I love to watch him get down.
What a cutie.
I have boys that prefer the drumbeats of rap and R&B music. I have to hurry through the radio stations when I am scanning to make sure I don’t get stuck on one of those stations because unfortunately I never know when there is going to be a song with inappropriate lyrics. One of my boys in particular always wants to listen to Rap which just isn’t my thing for more reasons than the often bad lyrics.
Tell Mr. Magoo that I am coming to see him do his head spin perfecting in a few weeks!!
AHHHHHHHHHHH he’s so cute!!!!!!!!!
Um, that was mean to be PERSONALLY….not PERFECTING. Sorry. Not through my first cup of coffee yet.
((Grimace))
If you want to play the music at home, go to youtube and type it in, I would be willing to bet something that the music video, or something similar is on there.
I love the mad dancing skills. he is truly becoming one of us
I read a recent quote by Mariah Carey saying something to the effect of “Glitter” being made before its time. It made me laugh so hard that we decide to name our baby that. (just her in utero name, of course). Apparently you have a little boy with cool music favorites. I love the head spin.
WOW that was awesome!
(and who may I ask was playing the accompanying piano?)
I’ve got Becca trained like a wee little dog. I shout, “Dance Becca!” And she twirls around in circles with her arms in the air until she falls over. Love it.
The boy has SKILLS and Enthusiasm. No one can shake it like a 2 year old!
That boy can shake it, shake it shake it!!! Nice Work!
Full on comedy, my friend! We generally rock it a little harder in Chaos… and I am so proud that Birdie can spot a Foo Fighters song out of a playlist of hard hitting alllllternative.
That was AWESOME. I loved it.
Glad to know I’m not the only one with a fair-skinned boy who loves his R&B. We play it safe by listening to the “Old School” station which is pretty-much rap-free. Just don’t want his first word to be “Ho,” ya know?
He’s doing a one-man Soul Train line! Hilarious.
Personally, I’d love to see him do the robot next.
And unless I am very much mistaken that was the theme to Dr Who being played on a grand piano Liberace style!!! Great choice for head spinning!!! Indoctrination is a wonderful thing though. At the age of 5 my daughter would break into Rolling Stones if anyone ever said “You Can’t Always Get What You Want!!!”
That video is another winner! As soon as Viv gets up in the morning I’m going to play it for him
he is a mover AND a shaker. What a kid!
