Sam Jackson may be fighting Snakes on a Plane but I’m fighting my own battle down here on planet earth.Â
They are black and yellow and slimey looking.
Dan tells me they are here to guard our house from the worser evil, mice.
One slithered out at me as I was pulling a weed from the rock wall.
When I screamed, Laylee asked me why I was laughing. Yeah, that’s right. I was laaaaughing. Snakes are hilarious. She’s too young to know how hilarious. I think I’ll keep it to myself.
ack! okay, I WAS going to comment on the pictures of the tall grass but never did. And clearly I shoud have. The reason that our grass is kept short? Tall grass hides the snakes. Nothing like walking barefoot holding six popsicles and a glass of iced tea and stepping 1.2 inches from a slitherer. Hilarious. 🙂
Our neighbors have a cat or two and we’ve never had a mouse. I refuse to give the snakes any credit for this.
Oh man! I try so hard not to scream and panic when I see a spider if one of my girls is around. My husband is adamant about not wanting them to grow up terrified of the creepy-crawly things, and it sounds like a worthy goal. But I hate bugs. I hate them. Snakes bother me less, thankfully. But I feel your pain. Laugh it off.
ps. I like the new site! The circus masthead is lovely.
Glad you kept it to yourself. No sense making her too afraid. This weekend my parents went rafting with some friends, and they saw TWO rattlesnakes–one of which was only a few feet away from my cousin’s tent. I love to raft, and it would be interesting to see another rattler (it’s been a while), but that would have freaked me out a bit.
smart son invited me out to see the one that smart daddy-o chopped up in the lawn mover. that was still closer than i wanted to be- oh and when he was outside at my parents he found a 7 ft long shedded skin under a bush- and no i did not play in the yard the rest of the trip
