You Really Should Know Some Things

At night, in the dark laundry room, I call myself Uhura as I work the controls. Because I am way not a dork who should be filed away with all the other PZ4s. At all.

While I was working out listening to New Kids on the Block (NKOTB as theyโ€™re known in the hood), I was ever so slightly tempted. Is it just me?

Iโ€™ve been trying to get Laylee to pump her own swing for just decades now. She finally did it today because I pushed her a bunch and then said she could stay at the park as long as her swing was still going and I walked away. Some skills are mastered through patient persistence, others through sheer desperation.

He got his sweetness from Daniel. His chipmunkness is all me.

I still have NKOTB on LP…and I remember watching a concert video of theirs at a friends back in the day…I don’t know if a mother should be watching all that booty shaking.
Its glorious when your kids learn to pump on the swing. I still remember learning that myself!

They just announced today that NKOTB is coming to my city! My Mom has already promised me the ticket for my 30th birthday present. w00t! I have to admit that I completely swoon at their new song, Summertime…

We have the same washer-I didn’t know it lit up like that in the dark! (Poor husband will now be dragged into the pantry tonight so I can show him.)

I am VERY tempted by NKOTB in concert having seen them in one the first time around. Only I was in high school then. I’m old.

  6. Shalee says:

I’m not tempted, but I listened to them well way back when, Uhura.

Oh the old “pump your feet!” shouts. I remember that. And suddenly they do it all on their own and you’re not needed as much at the swings. Sigh. Grab my own and start swinging myself until the motion sickness sets in.

Apparently you have not posted nearly enough pictures lately, (or come to visit) because the Magoo man looks completely different to me. Wow! Come home soon! And pumping on her own? That will come in handy in our back yard this summer. Now if she can just teach Magoo and the Bean for me, I can sit on the patio and just watch. Cool!

    Your washer is fecking cool.
I watched a tarantino flick the other night while doing laundry and now I have the f-word in my head. I want to say it a lot so I’m putting an “e” in it to make it more family friendly.

How exciting that she learned to pump the swing all by herself! I love the motivation you gave her.

That’s a seriously cute snoozer you’ve got there.

As far as NKOTB go—did you SEE them on Celebrity Apprentice? OMG, were they full of epic amounts of cockiness or what? Give me some J.T. any day over those guys……

  16. Wendy says:

Brilliant move on the swing deal, K. I’m going to try that with Kid. She’ll probably be equally motivated.
