You find that your purse is suddenly inexplicably filled with legos and orange crumbs.
People abruptly unveil way too personal parts of their bodies and ask you if they look red.
Your chapstick is filled with dirt.
Several times throughout the day you notice that there is ketchup on your arm again but you can never find the source.
You have a 5 minute conversation with a very small person in which they will say nothing except, “BUT MO-O-O-O-MEEEE!” in a pitiful sob.
You are filled with overwhelming pride when your daughter not only learns the words to Take a Chance on Me by ABBA, but upon mastering it begins to make up verses of her own.
Love these! LOL 😆
Your chapstick is filled with just DIRT? You are a lucky woman. SOmeone tried to put on MY chapstick after eating Oreos. Ew!
I’m jealous of anyone who actually owns chapstick. Mine always gets eaten. Maybe if I start filling it with dirt, that will stop…..
Ahhh… the joys our mothers never told us about 🙂
So funny! I’m not a mom yet, but I’m glad I’m getting a realistic picture of the lifestyle. 😉

I’d like to respond to this, but I am seriously desperate to find the source of that ketchup!!!
So funny and so true!
Your daughter has ABBA songs memorized too? Caution! Don’t show her the “Take a Chance on Me” music video–otherwise she might memorize the dance moves, too. Not that I would know from personal experience or anything.
This made me laugh out loud!
And I am SOOO impressed with the ABBA song!
Oooh, Abba. I’m gonna have to try that.
My kids are currently into Earth, Wind and Fire.
Yeah, they get their taste from Mama.
I wish my boys would understand the universal importance of ABBA.
At what point in a Mom’s life does she no longer walk around in stained shirts?
Oh yes. Got the orange dust in the bottom of my purse. Goldfish dust. Sounds much more poetic than it actually is. Especially if it happens to get wet.
Here’s mine:
You obligingly bark, hang your tongue out, and pant, when your child pats you on the head and says, “Nice doggy!”
I used to have some pride, I swear it.
Yep…I agree completely with ALL of the above. Except my chapstick is lip gloss and is filled with sand from the beach. And there have been multiple times where I identified blood on myself but could never find the source – too busy to really figure it out?
Love your blog, btw 🙂
Thank you! So the sand is from the beach… I’d been wondering about that. 🙂
