Yesterday we drove past the Post Office and Laylee had the chance to witness more mail trucks than she had EVER SEEN IN HER LIFE! Glory be! It was a lovely sight.
Laylee: Mom! Look at all those mail trucks!
Me: Wow! That is awesome.
Laylee: Where do all the mail truck people sleep at night?
Me: Well, they go home and sleep in regular beds just like regular people. Delivering mail is just their job like daddy has a job at Megacorp but then they go home and sleep.
Laylee: [sounding like the mail truck people had gone down a notch in her opinion, now that I’d outed them as mere mortals] Oh. [rallying her support] They are SO nice because they put packages in everybody’s mailbocks. I wonder if they put a package in our mailbock today?!
Me: Let’s go check our BOCK AND SEE!!
the reasons: red leaves, paper bags with handles, people who drive with their dog’s head sticking out the window so Magoo can lose his very mind
Mine sleeps under my Maple tree every day from 12:15-12:45.
Oh how cute!
That’s so sweet… I haven’t checked my mail BOCK in a week. Thanks for reminding me 🙂
By the way, I’ve never seen my mail delivery person!!!!!
Sue
Yes, I suppose that would be like the “ear wack” my son occasionally pulls from his ear?
D’s step-Dad is a mailman…he sleeps in a house. Sorry Laylee. But he does get up really early in the morning to go deliver people’s mail. That has to count as some kind of superpower since I can barely drag myself out of bed by 7.
my girl (2.5) does that too
the mail truck mystic, I suspect all kids have it! My kids get just as excited about them too.
Our mail man once let my son look in his mail truck. But my son was a little disappointed…there were only three boxes of mail left in that whole truck. Oh, well.
Emma used to flirt with our mailman. It was so embarrassing. I mean, he wasn’t even cute!
I love that you just go “wid” her lingo.
Don’t you love the things kids say! My son thinks people who work in restaurants live there but no amount of explaining it to him will convince him otherwise. Apparently they live there just to serve us food.
We drove past the vast parking lot where all the school busses end up at the end of the day, and my; son said, “Look mom! That’s where they grow the school busses!”
Oh! I need to go check my BOCK today… Thanks for the reminder 🙂
So cute. I love me a package in my bock, too.
🙂
I’ll go get my mail from the bock, just as soon as I put a clo on.
My brudder used to call it the mail tuck. We always cracked up over that one.
Wait just one minute. Where do teachers sleep??!!??
My 3 year-old daughter asked the same question for the first time about the “cooks” going through a drive-through a few weeks ago!
