I’ve come to realize that there are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who wear and love Keens, those who covet Keens in a way that Moses would greatly disapprove of, and those who’ve never heard of them.
So for those of you in category 3, here’s a rundown of why I love Keen to encourage you to join categories 1 or 2. If you still need convincing after reading this, visit their new website and I’m sure you’ll be hooked.
1. They’re environmentally and socially responsible. Much of their products are made from reused or recycled material. They use environmentally friendly manufacturing processes, give back to the community, and are working through a Fair Labor certification process. There are so many companies who have jumped on this bandwagon half-heartedly but I get the impression that Keen really means to make a difference in the industry and the world. Their company was founded on these principles 5 years ago and they keep taking their commitment to the next level.
2. They’re based in the Northwest so we’re neighbors and likely soon to be BFFs.
3. Their design is smart and their shoes are well-made, rugged and durable.
4. Handbags. You just have to look. Trust me.
5. Everything they make is gorgeous.
Now you’re asking yourself, “Why is Kathryn giving me a big fat advertisement for Keen?” Firstly because I like em so darn much and secondly because they want to give one of you a Christmas present. An awesome Christmas present, a present of which I am totally jealous in a hypocritical I-enabled-this-so-why-am-I-freaking-out-with-envy sort of way.
Head over to the site and look through everything. May I suggest the Ridgelines, Betty Boots, Palermo Boots or Palermo MJs?
How about a pair of classic Newports or Wear Around MJs?
And let’s face it. If it were me, I’d spend a good long time checking out their laptop bags and handbags. I’ve particularly got my eye on the Oswego and the Betty bag. The day packs are also delicious but I’d feel like I’d end up sharing them with my family and honestly, who wants that?
So yes. Go to the site. Pick out something you can’t live without and come back here and tell me what it is in the comments section of this post. Next Sunday night I will choose one random winner to rule them all who will receive a coupon code good for one free item of your choice from the Keen website. That’s right ladies and you 3 gentlemen. The winner gets to pick any one thing you want. Squeee! I’m so excited.
Here’s the bonus. If you post about the contest on your own site with a link back to this page, then come back here leaving a second comment with a link to your post, you’ll be entered twice.
But wait. There’s more. When the contest ends, I have a coupon code for everyone else to get free shipping on anything you order from the site.
So everyone wins. And the peasants rejoice. Now go. Window shop. Come back and report your findings.
What I really, really want are an exact replacement for my 4 year old Jamestowns that have travelled everywhere with me and are starting to finally wear out. Sigh.
Being that I have to choose something currently available on the site, I do love the Berkley mary jane/clogs. Something new and different compared to my other five pairs of Keens. My family is definitely in category 1 – that is all anyone over 1 wears! My 7 year old cries if I make him wear his tennis shoes…
I love the Palermo Mary Janes in black. I”m looking for a new casual black shoe–this is perfect! Thanks for a great giveaway!
These are amazing! I would love to be able to get the Palermo Boots in red or brown.
Well, I’m absolutely in love with the CHAMONIX in Pinecone! They are a thing of beauty. 🙂
On the bag front I love, love, love the Oswego bag.

Love me the Palermo Boots!
Thanks for doing this contest! I love the Palermo MJs. Mary Janes are SO CUTE!
I have fallen in love with the Sienna Ballerina!!
Oh my word! This giveaway is to die for!
The part of me that things I should dress better would love the Palermo Mary Janes! They are SO cute.
The “I need new walking shoes’ part of me loves the Genoa Peak WP.
If I win, then I guess we’ll have to see which part of me wins out!
love those MJ’s….but LOVE any kind of Keen!
I have to agree with many other commenters and choose the Sienna Ballerina. Always wanted to do ballet just to have the shoes but had no talent or coordination whatsoever. So these will satisfy the desire while being more comfortable and enviro-friendly! Looking forward to the free shipping even if I don’t win free stuff.
Really…just one thing? I guess it would be the presidio….no…the briggs…..or maybe the portola….so hard to chose!!
I’ve been dieing for a pair of the Venice sandals…in bosa nova!
The best giveaway I’ve ever seen!
Check out the linky love..

I loooove the winthrop boot!!! 🙂 What a fun site keen has. I’ve seen their stuff advertised in magazines once in a while but had never visited them before. Cool stuff.
winthrop boot in black. size 8.
I know I’m going to win this one.
I LOVE THE WINTERPORT SHOE!!!!!!! I live in the Boston area, far, far from my beloved Seattle beginnings, where this shoe couldn’t be more perfect for stomping down slush-covered sidewalks!
P.S.
I laughed for hours about your “little green balls of death” post 🙂
After much “shopping” on the site- which I totally love now, (thanks)- I had a list of 4 items, until I saw the Irvington bag- rust-orange shitake ochre. OMGosh!!! I love it. Right now I have a 7very tacky hot pink bag that I currently take to work. It has 1 pocket- and as we all know, 1 pocket is not enough for a woman. I have too many essentials I need at work and I end up digging around in the main section of the bag for everything because the small pocket is only big enough for my cell phone and a pen. YIKES! CAN’T WAIT for the big announcement of the winner!!!
Check out my post about your lovely giveaway!!!

The Winthrop boot would have saved me in Montreal. I would love to have them for Missouri! Thanks for the great giveaway!
Those Winthrop boots are giving me heart palpitations. Can any boots be that good? Apparently… yes.
Congratulations! You are the winner. Please email me back soon with the email address where you’d like your promotional code sent.

I think my husband would really like the Winterport boots or the other pair of winter boots. 🙂
Christi
I like the Palermo Mary Jane in brown. So cute, yet looks comfy, too.
I’m a very indecisive person, it would take a long long time for me to pick only one thing…I had no idea they had so many different shoes, even mjs! I had only seen the Keen’s water shoes. As for the site: I love that when you can move your mouse over the shoes you can see all the color options. I think the pink and burgundy ones are very pretty, but if I was buying them I would most likely talk myself into a conservative (goes with everything) blue or brown. But there’s just too much to choose from. I agree the calistoga shoe and the mjs are very cute, but I would probably get a running type shoe. I’d have to go to a store to see which one fits my narrow kangaroo foot best. I’d have to ask someone, who has shoe know how, which shoe, for my foot, would be best to train in for a marathon…and then that’s what I would get. They all look extremely comfortable. My parents and sister’s family each have a pair (or two) of the water ones (which was the first time I heard of keens) and they love them… If I HAD to pick right now, I’m guessing, I would pick the ridgeline trailhead shoes in barogue rose. Because they are very pretty and look like they would wear well for a running shoe and not look dirty really fast. I wish I could see the bottom of the shoe…I need lots of arch support…and I’d have to make sure they weren’t too tall on the sides for my ankle bone. But these are really cute! So I guess that’s what I’d get.
Woo, I love the Chamonix in Army. My husband has been wearing Keen shoes for the past couple of years. I had to talk him into getting some, he said they were funky, but now he loves them.
Oh boy! I totally (heart) Keens so it is a tough choice. I’ve narrowed my choices to two. Option one is if I am feeling generous I would get the Morrison day pack to replace my husband backpack that was stolen a couple weeks ago. Option two if I am feeling selfish is the Targhee II walking shoes so I can get out in the Seattle rain and splash in the puddles.
I didn’t even realize I was a Keens fan until I saw the sandals we bought my toddler on their site. So, if I was to pick an item out, I’d choose a pair of their sneakers for him for the winter: http://www.keenfootwear.com/product.aspx?p=524&pc=1493.
I can’t decide between the Calistogas or the Presidios. Not to mention all the cute kids’ stuff.
I really, really want to get my hubs the Summit County Winter boots. We both love, love, love everything Keen. And his tootsies will be cold without any winter boots!
I love the PALERMO BOOT in red because they look warm (Minnesota winters) and I had some red boots in high school and I miss them.
Their website is really neat! I love the shoes- the boots are super cute, but I think my favorite shoes are the Calistoga ballet shoes in the BLVD collection. I would probably get black or possibly seal brown.
Ohhh the morrison daypack…would be extra awesomeness.
The Morrison Daypack for my love, my hubby. Would be perfect for his bicycle commute, which is awkward at the moment due to big ol Jansport bag from college that isn’t lasting us much longer.
Definitely for my man!!
The Stockholm boot is simple, pretty and extremely practical for those of us entering an icky New England winter!
I’m a Palermo kind of girl, in black please!
I really need the Calistoga for my feet during this pregnancy!
Those Palermo Mary Jane’s are seriously drool-worthy!
I have been eyeing keens for a while now, but this is the perfect opportunity to take the plunge! I *need* some new snow boots (my old ones literally fell apart after 7 years of abuse) and the Betty Boots would be perfect! My fingers are crossed!
I admit I have a deep love of shoes so it is impossible to only choose one soooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I narrowed it down to four:
Napa, portola, winthorp boot or Chamonix boot.
Any one of them would bring much much foot joy. Happy holidays everyone!!!
I love. love, love the black Calistoga’s. I also love giveaways, so this is perfect for me!
Wow, I love those Waterfront Newports. *crosses fingers*
That Northrup bag and those Calistoga shoes . . . mmm.
— Nancy
If I had to pick just ONE it would be the Calistoga….but what a difficult choice.
I could really go places in a pair of those Oregon PCTs. Thanks for the link!
I’d love a pair of boots!! I am a poor sweet Utahn who lives in much snow and has not even one pair of boots!! I need me some boots!!
Love your blog!
Wear Around MJ’s in Port Royale, please! Thank you so much! I love my Birkenstocks, but would love love love a pair of these, too!
I behaved and did as instructed. Please, may I have the pretty shoes now?
Thank you!

That’s a huge decision, but at the moment (since I have a snowballs chance in you know where – I’ve NEVER won anything. Seriously, 4 years of playing bingo in spanish class in high school and naught a win, big sigh), I really like the weararound MJs, in blue because that’s my son’s favorite color (which he insists on telling everyone. I think the entire state of MN knows his favorite color). I’ll keep my fingers, toes, eyes, etc crossed. Oughtta make for an interesting couple days….
We have been converts ever since we got our boy some Vail’s. Wish they made an adult version! But in the meantime, my adult pick for myself would be some black Winterports..
